Dr. Jitendra Singh Rathore is an Assistant Professor at School of Biotechnology, Gautam Buddha University, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is graduated from University of Delhi, followed by Masterâ€™s in Biotechnology (M.Sc Biotechnology) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. Later, he completed Ph.D in Biotechnology from International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB, funded by United Nation) and School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University, (JNU) New Delhi, India.
He joined School of Biotechnology, Gautam Buddha University on 1st Sep 2009. He is recipient of prestigious Fulbright Postdoctoral fellowship from United States-India Education Foundation (USIEF) under public health category and worked at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA from 1st Sep 2013- 30 Aug 2014.
His area of research is molecular bacteriology, specifically to study the antimicrobial resistance development and persister cell formation in bacterium. He has also received two (02) extramural research grants from funding agencies including Science and Engineering Research Board- Department of Science and Technology (SERB-DST) New Delhi, Govt. of India and Council of Science and Industrial Research (CSIR) New Delhi, Govt. of India.
He has more than 10 years of teaching experience in different subjects of biotechnology including Introductory Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Vaccine Design and Development, Immunology and Recombinant DNA Technology. So far he has supervised 25 B.Tech-M.Tech students in their major dissertation projects and currently he is also supervising 04 Ph.D students. Apart from these, few of his students are selected for Ph.D program in International Institutes like Max Plank Institute of Chemical Ecology, Germany, University of Manchester, UK and Nankai University, China under Indo-China exchange program. Some of his students are also pursing Ph.D from leading Institute in India including IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and NIPGR (DBT Institute) New Delhi.
