Biography

DR. GYANADITYA SHAKYA, the Recipient of Presidential Award & Vividh Puraskar, is a well known name in the field of Pāli language & literature. He has done M.A. from Nagpur University and M.Phil. & Ph.D. from University of Delhi, Delhi. His thirteen written/translated/edited books like Bauddha Dharma Darshan mein Brahmavihāra Bhāvanā, Jinālaá¹…kāra, Dāṭhāvaṃsa, Anāgatavaṃsa, Chakesadhātuvaṃsa, PañcagatidÄ«panÄ«, NāmarÅ«pasamāsa, Anagārika Dharmapāla: the Revivalist of Buddhism, Gandhavaṃsa, Bauddha Dharma ke Punaruddharaka: Tripitakacharya Dr. Bhikshu Dharmarakshit, The Revivalist of Buddhism: Anagārika Dharmapāla and Saá¹…gharāja Saraṇaá¹…kara, Human Values and Buddhist Ethics, and NāmacāradÄ«paka have been published. He is selected by Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi for the ‘Presidential Award of Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman’ for the year 2017, and He is honored by Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu on 4th April 2019 for the outstanding contribution in the field of Pāli language & literature. In addition to it, his edited & translated book entitled NāmarÅ«pasamāsa is selected by Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan, Lucknow for the year 2017, and he is also awarded with ‘Vividh Puraskar’ by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath on 7th February 2018. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida since 7th December 2011. His area of interest and research is Pāli language & literature.

DR. GYANADITYA SHAKYA is a well known name in the field of Pāli language & literature. He is born as the son of Shri Ram Autar Shakya and Smt. Vimal Devi at village Manikpur in district Mainpuri near Sankasya, the holy land of Buddhism. Having completed his school education from Mainpuri, he did Bachelor of Arts from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra and Master of Arts in Pali & Prakrit with Gold Medal from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. He has cleared N.E.T. (National Eligibility Test) & J.R.F. (Junior Research Fellowship) in three subjects like Pali, Buddhist, Jaina, Gandhian & Peace Studies and Comparative Study of Religions. He completed his Master of Philosophy & Doctor of Philosophy under the supervision of Professor Bhikshu Satyapala from Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi. He is associated with Pāli Society of India as the founder member. His many articles & research papers have been published in different research journals & magazines; he is associated with many of them as a member of editorial board. He has also worked as editor and assistant editor in the different issues of the research journals like Nibbāna-Bodhi – The Research Journal of Religion, Philosophy, Culture and Social Sciences (An International Peer Reviewed Refereed Research Journal) and Saṅgāyana: The International Journal of Buddhist Studies. 4.      Param Pujya Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Gold Medal is given by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, Maharashta (India) on 29th & 30th April, 2007 for the achievement of highest position in Master of Arts in Pali & Prakrit.

1.      Dhammabhaṇḍāgāra Gaurav Samman is awarded by Sankisa Buddha Mahotsav Prabandhan Samiti (Sankisa), Yuva Bauddha Kalyan Samaj (India) and Sankisa Bhikshu Sangha (Sankisa) for the special contribution in the development and protection of Pāli literature on 23rd-24th October 2018 at the holy land of Sankasya.

2.      Samman Patra (Certificate of Honour) is awarded by Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Sarvajanik Jayanti Samaroh Samiti, Durg, Bhilai (Chattisgarh) for the literary contribution in the field of Pāli Literature and Buddhism on 14th April 2016.

3.      Certificate of Honour is awarded by Kushinagar Bhikshu Sangha, Kushinagar on the occasion of 80th Birthday Celebration of Venerable Aggmahapandit Bhadant Gyaneshwar on 10th November 2015 at Myanmar Buddhist Monastery, Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh (India) for indigenous service and noteworthy co-operation for the propogation of the message of peace preached by Gautam Buddha and for the upliftment of Kushinagar in the map of spiritual world.
